Others might sight the altruistic nature of helping society, watching people grow, having a lasting impact on peoples lives, etc.
For me, I love to learn and teaching gives me the space to be a life-long learner. I have some freedoms to go down whatever rabbit hole I think deserves exploring and I get to bring along passionate students who are trying to carve their place in the world. Selfishly, I love the idea of leaving a legacy of people I've educated and helped along the way as my own form of eternal life...and then there is June, July, and August...
What I can tell you with near absolute certainty is that no one gets into teaching for the money.
Its no secret that K–12 Teachers are underpaid and frequently under appreciated. What might surprise you is that most Higher-Ed (College/University) Professors aren't exactly backing up the Brink's truck to their pool of gold coins and swimming around Scrooge McDuck style either.
To that end, I've decided to keep track of all the educator discounts on offer. It is so wonderful to see companies recognize educators and show their support by tossing us a few discounts here and there—thanks!
